Superb ANTIQUE Solid Silver THREE PIECE TEA SET 1907 Hallmarked Sterling NR
SHEFFIELD - Super Design & Condition - 41 troy oz- RARE
This is a really outstanding, substantial and elegant English ANTIQUEsolid sterling silver THREE PIECE TEA SET that was made in Sheffield, England in 1907 by the illustrious silversmiths, WALKER & HALL at their Howard Street workshops. This wonderfully stylish and fine quality set comes from a private country house and is insuperb condition. It consists of a beautiful teapot, a pretty milk jug and a delightful sugar bowl.
Every piece is fully hallmarked with W&H, crown, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark),p showing that each piece was hallmarked in Sheffield in 1907. This wonderful set has a stunning and very stylishrectangular shape with half reeded sides, gadrooned rimsand has a composition handle and finial to the teapot. This set is avery nice sized tea set and is of really good quality. The set is VERY substantial - it weighs1280.5 grams - giving a total weight ofalmost 41 1/4 troy oz. This set is NOT engraved.
The teapot (capacity ofover2imperial pints) measures 4 3/4" wide, 10 3/4" from spout to handle and stands6 1/8" tall. The milk jug measures3 3/8" wide, 5 3/8" from spout to handle and stands 3 5/8" tall. The sugar bowl measures4" wide, 7 1/4" across the handles and stands 4" tall.
The sugar bowl is in lovely condition with less than the usual light surface scratching and no splits or repairs, NO distortion and NO dents or dings and NO distortion. The milk jug is in lovely condition with less than the usual light surface scratching and no splits or repairs, NO dents or dings and NO distortion. The teapot is in lovely condition with less than the usual light surface scratching and no splits or repairs, with NO dings or dents with NO distortion. The teapot finial is still firm with NO looseness and NO distortion to the hinge and NO spring to the lid. There is NO play to the teapot handle -with less than the usual wear. Very minor defects that I mention only for complete accuracy.
A really SUPERB set as you can see from the photographs in superb condition afterover 105 years- at a VERY low start and - I doubt you'll find a better ANTIQUE tea set this year!!! Postage will be 10.00GBP both within the UK and to international destinations.
