A Superb Antique Victorian mahogany Picture Frame ~ ~ with a lovely chamfered border ...*R = RebateMeasuring approximately 45cm by 38cm ~ with a rebate size (your image) of 30cm by 23.5cm or, in inches, 11 & 7/8\" by 9 & 1/4\" ~~ Sight size is 290mm by 225mm ...This is a lovely very old antique picture frame ~ I am no expert but I believe it to be early Victorian possibly even Georgian judging by the incredible signs of age to the back of the frame (verso) ~ the wood I think is a Mahogany veneer on a pine carcass ~ the smart chamfered border rises up away from the sight edge & then tilts backwards shooting away, a lovely design ~ being mahogany, it is a wonderful warm colour & has a superb aged patina ~ The slip is actually a mini frame itself & is original to the piece ~ SEE BELOW ~ Superb Antique 19thC Victorian Mahogany Veneer Chamfered Picture Frame 30X24CM*R Superb Antique 19thC Victorian Mahogany Veneer Chamfered Picture Frame 30X24CM*R

This is a lovely very old antique picture frame ~ I am no expert but I believe it to be early Victorian possibly even Georgian judging by the incredible signs of age to the back of the frame (verso) ~ the wood I think is a Mahogany veneer on a pine carcass ~ the smart chamfered border rises up away from the sight edge & then tilts backwards shooting away, a lovely design ~ being mahogany, it is a wonderful warm colour & has a superb aged patina ~ The slip is actually a mini frame itself & is original to the piece ~ This is the type of frame that would really suit an old painting or perhaps a gravure print ~ this is a great authentic example of an old Victorian frame, in good antique condition ~ a particularly clean and original specimen, completely hand-made ~ this is a wonderful original period piece ~ certainly a frame that will grace any wall & will really suite a special picture especially a portrait or maybe an Old Master ~

Condition: In very good condition ~ joints all good & solid ~ there are a number of small scratches to the border but none that really take the eye or that you might consider being anything other than age-related ~ the slip I think has been touched up but again is no surprise given the great age ~ age commensurate wear ~ no major damages ~ please do take in ALL of the photos ...

N.B. All of my frames have some form of age commensurate wear, this is NOT a modern repro, so there will be slight imperfections, BUT this is after all the essence of owning an antique picture frame. Please do refer to the detailed photographs, they are an accurate reflection of the very good antique condition ...Refurbished FramesEach frame has been carefully stripped down of its backing boards & tidied professionally ~ the back of the frame (verso) is removed from any loose backing & paper, dust, nails, splinters, glass etc ~ any other abrasions have been meticulously peeled away so that the frame can be pretty much hung immediately. After having been stripped down thoroughly, the border, where necessary, is then treated with a high-quality clear wax and buffed vigorously ~ this gives the wood a bright fresh lustre and sheen, making it, in essence, a completely restored frame. This fully refurbished frame is ready to go ~ this frame is all set to be hung ... For your information …So, the idea is to have around 100 to 150 frames on at any one time in order to offer plenty of choice. Not just of antique frames but frames of quality, quirky usable frames of all shapes & sizes & character. Around 95% of frames that we see or are brought to us are rejected on grounds of quality & condition ~ we only pick frames that are of the best quality & are in very good condition ~ unless of course, it is a charming old gesso frame that has fantastic qualities despite having areas of missing gesso ~ frames such as this can still be used in a variety of stylish ways. Our frames come not just from the UK but from all over Europe as we visit most major fairs in French & Belgium. Many of our frames, especially Edwardian Oak ones are cleaned & therefore reconditioned & brought up to a very high calibre. The majority of our frames come without glass as the main shipping companies will not cover for glass ~ We do however keep a stock of antique glass so, if you can come & collect your frame in person at our Lytham address we can probably provide glass. One of the reasons also that we don’t send out the glass is that new glass can be sourced easily & cheaply from a local glass/window dealer or glazier ~ it can cost just pennies.
