Offered in this sale is a really wonderful Victorian carved shell Aide Memoire with writing pad that I would date to the mid to later 1800s. It measures roughly 4 1/4\" long x 2 3/4\" wide x 3/4\" thick. I do not know too much about these early ladies accessory pieces, however, I see that they were often made of silver or other precious metals and materials. The condition of this one is excellent. Other than one little spot of roughness on the top edge of the uncarved back cover I can find no damage or loss. The reticulated carving on the front page is very finely executed. The note pad page is in perfect condition.
