This is a genuine hot cast bronze bust depicting Leon Trotsky. Standing 15cm high this bust shows a true likeness of the famous Russian. Width 11.5cm.
Leon Trotsky ;born Lev Davidovich Bronshtein; 7 November [O.S. 26 October] 1879 – 21 August 1940) was a Marxist revolutionary and theorist, Soviet politician, and the founder and first leader of the Red Army.
Trotsky initially supported the Menshevik Internationalists faction of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party. He joined the Bolsheviks immediately prior to the 1917 October Revolution, and eventually became a leader within the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (bolsheviks). During the early days of the RSFSR and the Soviet Union, he served first as People\'s Commissar for Foreign Affairs and later as the founder and commander of the Red Army with the title of People\'s Commissar of Military and Naval Affairs. He was a major figure in the Bolshevik victory in the Russian Civil War (1918–1923). He also became one of the first members (1919-1926) of the Politburo.
After leading a failed struggle of the Left Opposition against the policies and rise of Joseph Stalin in the 1920s and against the increasing role of bureaucracy in the Soviet Union, Trotsky was removed from power (October 1927), expelled from the Communist Party (November 1927), and finally deported from the Soviet Union in 1929. As the head of the Fourth International, Trotsky continued in exile in Mexico to oppose the Stalinist bureaucracy in the Soviet Union. An early advocate of Red Army intervention against European fascism, in the late 1930s, Trotsky opposed Stalin\'s non-aggression pact with Adolf Hitler. He was assassinated on Stalin\'s orders in Mexico, by Ramón Mercader, a Spanish-born Soviet agent in August 1940. Most of his family members who stayed in USSR were arrested and executed.
Trotsky\'s ideas formed the basis of Trotskyism, a major school of Marxist thought that opposes the theories of Stalinism. He was one of the few Soviet political figures who were not rehabilitated by the government under Nikita Khrushchev in the 1950s. In the late 1980s, his books were released for publication in the Soviet Union.

Should you wish to collect the item yourself and save on postage charges we are happy to accommodate this by prior appointment Monday - Friday 9-5. Some of our items cost thousands of pounds and we understand you may prefer to pay across a few months. We are happy to provide layaway or monthly payment plans on items costing over £500. We will discuss with you and negotiate terms of a monthly payment plan to suit your budget. Unlike many other sellers we do not charge interest on payment plans and we will hold your item in our secure warehouse free of charge until your item is paid for in full and ready for delivery.

On items that are sent with couriers we state a despatch time of 2 business days, however where possible we will send your item on the day or day after you pay. We employ a small team of dedicated \'packers\', their aim is to ensure that every item they despatch arrives with its new owner in the same condition it leaves us. We spend a small fortune every week on professional packaging materials and prefer to \'overpack\' something so that it arrives undamaged rather than your new purchase arriving damaged. We have experience of sending fragile goods to every corner of the globe so rest assured that whatever you purchase will arrive in the condition it should.
We have contracts with both Parcelforce & Home Delivery Network and we also use Royal Mail for smaller items. For larger items weighing over 30kg we have a network of small independent courier companies who specialise in handling fragile & expensive goods. On occasion, if necessary, we also deliver goods personally if we feel that it will be more economical or if we are concerned about the item arriving to you in top condition. We are happy to ship to anywhere in the world but please understand shipping costs vary greatly from country to country. If buying from overseas please be aware that an item not weighing a great deal will be priced according to its \' volumetric weight \' so the size of the box it is packed in will determine the cost of the shipping. Often, when shipping overseas it is far more practical to purchase more than one item at a time as we are happy to package together wherever possible to make the shipping quote more bearable.
We have contracts with Parcelforce Worldwide and we pass on our discounted rate to make savings for you, we have an excellent \' 30kg deal\' to many European Countries where we pay a set price for a box up to 30kg of weight so feel free to buy a few items and build your own box. We are happy to ship large items such as furniture overseas but these require specific quotes so please provide your address details and ask before offerding.

We only accept returns if your item arrives damaged or not as we have described. Returns postage is the responsibility of the buyer.
