A lovelyantique Doulton Lambeth stoneware open salt with a silver rim. The saltstands on a rounded foot thattapers gently towards the top. Just above the foot is a line of applied florets that complletely encircle the piece - sitting above this line are numerousvertical panels of incised decoration each enclosed byintricate lines of tiny applied beads. The salt has a hallmarked silver rim - Birmingham, 1876-77, maker H.Matthews.To the base is the early Doulton Lambeth Rosette Mark and the impressed date - 1877 -as well astheartist mark for Elizabeth A.Sayers.A superb example of these collectable wares for the discerning collector.
