Item Description

Up for your consideration is a superb 19th C. French Aesthetic Movement hand-painted porcelain plaque, c. 1880. This style can also be considered early Art Nouveau. The plaque is completely hand-painted, with a custom carved gilt and ebonized frame that is original to the piece. It is signed by the artist \"J. B.\". The plaque measures 15\" x 11.5\", and the outer dimensions of the frame are 14.5\" x 18\", so this is a large hand-painted piece. I have seen two rectangular plaques of similar style by this artist, each sold for $4000+, one at sale and one that I sold personally on a few years back.

The plate and frame are in excellent condition. The porcelain is free of chips, cracks, scratches or losses. There is some fine crazing on the back. The frame is also in excellent original condition.
