Superb Georgian Sterling Silver and Gilt (Gold washed interior) Vinaigrette by Famous Georgian Silver Vinaigrette Maker, Thomas Shaw, Birmingham 1827.

Thisstylish vinaigrette has a beautiful engine turned decoration on both lid and base.

This top quality vinaigrette is a true Georgian antique & 187 years old but still in superb condition and would shine in any vinaigrette/silver collection.

This eye catching vinaigrette has been offered with what so ever for you of vinaigrette:

silver vinaigrette is a small receptacle to contain scented vinegar used by ladies to ward off faintness. The earliest-known examples in separate form dates from 1492. Such pieces were popular from the mid 18th century, They were made in innumerable forms and styles (such as circular, oval, polygonal, heart-shaped or shell-shaped, and in fantasy forms, such as a shoe, book, watch-case, purse, acorn...) in silver, gold or porcelain, with a pierced metal grille under the stopper or the securely hinged lid to cover a sponge saturated with a scented substance.

Fully sterling silver hallmarks on both lid and base:

Birmingham 1827.

Maker: TS.Thomas Shaw who was registered in Birmingham between 1818 & 1837 and is famous in making top quality silver vinaigrette and and condition (Please see pictures):

Beautiful Georgian sterling silver and gilt (Gold washed interior) vinaigrette with a superb engine turned decoration on both lid and base which is making an eye catching background for a rectangular cartouche on its lid, which was initialised in some stage in the past.

There is a beautiful gold washed and hinged grill with stunning pierced floral decorationwhich has added more beauty to this masterpiece.

It is very large and heavy andmade from an outstanding gaugeof sterling silver (24 grams).

It has a top quality and is in superb condition after 187 years with NoDent/Split/Hole/Repair/Soldering what so ever.

Atruly top quality vinaigrette in a nice condition which would be a decent vinaigrette for any serious collector.

Hinges are in good order.

Detailed decoration is in nice condition with almost no signs of ageing.

Gilt (Gold washed interior) is also in superb condition as you can see in provided pictures.
