Rare Mid/Late 19thC Japanese Imperial Satsuma pottery wine jug measures 19.5 cm high x 16cm wide.Excellent quality all over pattern of floral sprays of Chrysanthemums etc in hand painted raised jewel like enamels and gold.Lots of very fine detail,not one of the usual mass produced featureless wares for general retail.These pieces were made in small numbers for the Daimyo of Satsuma and presented as gifts,bearing the Gosu blue Shimazu mon of Satsuma and signed by the maker in gold.Minimal signs of wear if any,decoration as good as you could find,slight damage and repair only.It has two moulded high relief Dragons forming the handle and spout,the spout head restuck clean at neck and two legs have restoration on left side (easy to miss),see pictures for detail.Lid is not original,fits well and similar colouring,fine for display.Inner rim has few out of sight chips and a fine short inner hairline only visible inside,not gone through to outside.Decent size piece,not one of the usual tiny little cabinet pieces,see close up pictures,any questions email before offerding,thanks
