This sale is for a Fantastic Pair of Antique Royal Doulton Porcelain Plates -- one with fish, the other with birds -- Beautifully hand painted and signed by the artist who worked for the company a century ago.
Both are signed Wilson Jun\'r -- a Royal Doulton artist in the early 1900s.
The plates are True Works of Art and Display Wonderfully Together.
The fish plate has Four fish swimming around the border of the plate amid sea grasses and green silohettes of other fish in the distance. They are swimming in a mix of pastel background of green and pink. The detail of the fish is Superb and shows a great artistic touch by the artist.
Same goes for the bird plate. It depicts three separate groups of birds around the border: three snow white birds; four birds pecking on the ground; and a pair of birds perched on a tree branch. The are birds are neatly framed in mixed pastel colors of purple, green and blue.
Both plates are 10 1/2 inches across, are rimmed with a gold edge, and have the same Royal Doulton Lion Backstamp in red.
Both are in Very Good condition, especially for their age. There are no chips or cracks or damage to either plate, and the colors and images of the artwork are strong throughout.
There are a few small areas of age-appropriate loss of the gold edge trim on both plates (see last photo). It doesn\'t detract from the overall appeal of this Great Find.
I am selling other antique china and hand painted pieces and will combine shipping whenever possible.
I charge actual shipping and will send this either by USPS Priority Mail or by FedEx Ground, whichever is less expensive. NOTE: I can\'t send by FedEx Ground if it is going to a PO Box.
