This superb quality, Victorian, solidsilver tablespoon is in the ‘Fiddle Thread & Shell’ pattern. There is amonogram in script to the handle, which I have shown in a photograph
It measures approx. 22.9 cm long, withthe bowl 7.9 cm x 4.7 cm across the widest parts and weighs an impressive 102.6grams / 3.299 troy oz.
The hallmarks are: the lion passant forEnglish sterling silver, the leopard’s head for the London assay office, withthe date letter ‘o’ for 1869, the head of Queen Victoria as duty stamp and themaker’s mark ‘GA’ in two conjoining circles for the renowned silversmith, GeorgeWilliam Adams (Chawner & Co.).
