This is a really outstanding, substantial and elegant English VICTORIAN solid sterling silver THREE PIECE TEA SET which was made in London, England in 1874 by the illustrious Victorian silversmith,Samuel Smily of The Goldsmiths Alliance at his Red Lion Street workshops in Clerkenwell. This wonderfully stylish and fine quality set comes from a private country house and is insuperb condition. It consists of a beautiful teapot, a pretty milk jug and a delightful sugar bowl. Every piece is fully hallmarked with SS, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark),leopard head,t, Victoria duty markshowing that each piece was hallmarked inLondon in 1874. This wonderful set has a stunning and very stylishoval flutedshape withengraved sides and an ebonised handle and finial to the teapot. This set is avery nice sized LARGE tea set and is of really good quality. The set weighs1040.8 grams - giving a total weight of virtually 33 1/2troy oz. This set is NOT now engraved to the cartouches.

The teapot (capacity ofa full 2imperial pints) measures4 3/8\" deep, 10 7/8\" from spout to handle and stands5 5/8\" tall. The milk jug measures 2 1/2\" deep, 4 3/4\" from spout to handle and stands 4 3/4\" tall. The sugar bowl measures3 3/4\" deep, 7 3/4\" across the handles and stands 4 3/4\" tall.

The sugar bowl is in lovely condition with less than the usual light surface scratching and no splits or repairs, NO distortion and NO dents, justa couple ofdings and NO distortion. The milk jug is in lovely condition with less than the usual light surface scratching and no splits or repairs, NO dents or dings and NO distortion. The teapot is in lovely condition with less than the usual light surface scratching and no splits or repairs, NO dents, almost NO dingswith NO distortion. The teapot finial is still firm with NO looseness and NO distortion to the hinge and NO spring to the lid. There is NO play to the teapot handle -with just the usual wear. Very minor defects that I mention only for complete accuracy.

A really SUPERB VICTORIAN set as you can see from the photographs in superb condition after140 years- at a VERY low start and - I doubt you\'ll find a better VICTORIAN tea set this year!!! Postage will beFREE within the UK and from 10.00GBP to international destinations.
