Art DecoFrench Lidded Glass Container and Mirrored Tray

Here is a fantastic, vintage, Frenchensemble

straight out of the 1930sart deco period.

It is comprised of a heavy pressed glasscontainer with awooden lid,

and a small matching mirrored tray withan arched handle,

which is rather unusual for pieces likethis.

This ensemble was used for serving orpresentation purposes

(notably as a candy or cookie jar).

The glass container features angulardecorative ribbing.

It measures 3¼” tall (excluding lid),and just over 6” by 4” wide.

This beautiful piece is inexcellent condition

despite a chip along the bottom edge ofthe glass

(which is impossible to see when thecontainer is standing on the tray).

Note as well that the wooden lid is the samecolor as the side handles

of the tray, but it does not have thesame varnished finish.

The tray has a tin frame and upperhandle with alovely aged golden patina.

The edges of the wooden side handles arefinished by decorative tin scrolls.

The tray measures 8¼” by 5”, with themirrored portion

designed to accommodate the glasscontainer perfectly

(as a comparison, the porcelain figurinepictured on the photos

is slightly taller than a can of softdrink).

This tray remains in fantasticvintage condition despiteits many years,

with just very minor signs of usage hereand there.

The mirror itself (which is original tothe piece) is near mint,

its reflective coating showing a fewvery minor surface scratches

but no black age spot whatsoever.

Simply put, it is an uncommon and veryattractive ensemble;

still very functional, great for happyhour appetizers,

and perfect for adding a superb art deco touchto your table or décor!
