This beautiful Maori Box is distinguished by it’s superbly hand carved detailing, and its gently curved aspect to front and back sides. Rather more detailed and finished than most of the tourist offerings I’ve handled, and whilst I’m not about to claim this is a pre contact treasure- it remains demonstrably older and more interesting than the vast majority seen on the open market,Excellent vintage condition and a beautiful aged patina to the timber, light scuffs and marks only.Length 11.5cm almost 4.5 inches. Weight approx 125 grams.
