SUPERB ANTIQUE FRENCH CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH ORIGINAL KEY AND TRAVELLING CASE .

PLEASE NOTE: I am not a dealer - I am retired (with professional horological training), and have been restoring antique clocks as an interest for over 30 years. I tend to specialise in antique and vintage carriage clocks. I just finished restoring this one in my workshop (in September 2014). The clock is in very good, totally original condition! The travelling case is worn although I have tidied it up (see below).

BRASS CLOCK CASE: Perfect condition. It sits on four pretty little turned brass feet and has the classic folding handle. All the case parts are stamped with the matching number (19), showing it to be completely original. I completely dismantled the case and then cleaned, polished and waxed each part before rebuilding the case. It now has a lustrous antique patina which should last for years.

MOVEMENT: Original 8 day timepiece with its original jewelled cylinder escapement.Superbly engineered and finished - all the back plate screws are chromed. It was made by Couaillet Freres in St Nicolas d\'Aliermont and bears their trade mark arrow on the back plate. The back plate of the movement is also stamped at the bottom\"MADE IN FRANCE\".After checking the movement for wear, I completely dismantled it to give it a thorough clean, pegged it out, polished the pivots on the lathe and then oiled it with appropriate high-grade clock and watch oil. I also dismantled, cleaned and oiled the escapement. The movement is now in perfect working order. There is a fast/slow adjustment lever which is reached through the opening rear door. The movement should not need servicing again for many years.

DIAL: The original white enamel-on-copper dial is in beautiful condition. The gold dots on the five minute markers and in the corners of the dial are painted on and can be very easily removed if preferred. The bold arabic numerals really stand out and can be clearly seen across the room. The polished blued steel hands are also original and in perfect condition.

GLASSES: The five thick bevelled glasses are original and inperfect condition.

TRAVELLING CASE: Burgundy faux-leather with red velvet lining. Original to the clock I think. It is a little worn but I have tidied it up and it now looks quite presentable! The carrying strap and slide in viewing glass are missing, but, the lid shuts with precision and the catch works as it should. The red velvet lining is in fairly good condition, it is somewhat faded and slightly worn where the clock touches it.

KEY: The clock comes with a replacement double ended key (which fits the arbours very snugly): one end is for winding the 8-day movement and the other is for adjusting the hands.

Clock dimensions: Height with handle folded down 4.5 inches (11.5 cms); Width 3 inches (7.5 cms); Depth 2.5 inches (6.5 cms).
