This is a beautiful antique Victorian circa 1890 sterling silver anchor brooch in excellent condition. The brooch has a lovely unusual large silvertwisted chain around the shaft.
The fouled anchor is a classic Victorian love symbol with the anchor meaning steadfastness and the fouling wire meaning entwined forever.
The brooch has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for pieces from this period but has been fully tested and is sterling silver.
Total weight is 11g. The length of the brooch is6.4 cm ( Just over two and 1/2inches ) The width is 3.4cm (Justunderone and half inches)The pin and C clasp are in good working condition.
