Superb big Antique Victorian sterling silver c 1890 Scottish agate brooch pin:

This is a superb large quality antique Victorian period circa 1890 sterling silver Scottish agate brooch.
I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found.
The stones chosen are some rare agates with stunning red banded agates from near Cupar in Fife, green and red speckled bloodstones from the Isle of Rum, rare red moss agates from Balmerino in north Fife and grey banded agates from Montrose. There are a few edge nibbles to the stones commensurate with age.
The brooch has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for pieces from this period but has been fully tested and is sterling silver. The width is 4.9 cm ( Just under two inches ) and the pin and C clasp are in good working condition and original.
