Superb big antique Victorian 1865 silver Scottish agate pebble kilt pin brooch:

This is a superb large, very high quality antique Victorian registered 1865 sterling silver Scottish agate kilt pin or large brooch. This is a piece that would enhance the finest ofScottish attire!
I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found.
The superb stones are orange and mustard jaspers from the Campsie Fells in Stirlingshire, grey banded agates from Montrose and green and red speckled bloodstones from the Isle of Rum.
The brooch has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for pieces from this period but has been fully tested and is sterling silver. The brooch has a diamond registration stamp on the back with date letter W for 1865.
The length is large at 8.3 cm ( Three and a third inches ) and the pin and C clasp are in good working condition although not original and there has been repair work done to the bottom silver section on the back although this has been done to a high standard.
In summary this is a superb large Scottish agate and gemstone kilt pin or large brooch in beautiful condition!
