DESCRIPTION: Baluster-shape with bead edge

MARKS:Newcastle 1784 by John Langlands & John Robertson

MEASUREMENTS: 30.8cm (12.2”) high; 11.4cm (4.3”) max. diameter; 1080mls volume; 882 grams(28.4 tr.oz.) gross weight.

We arepleased to be offering this most appealing Georgian silver coffee pot with abeautifully elegant, baluster-shape and engraved Classical style cartouche withfloral festoon and ribbon to one side.

This Englishprovincial coffee pot has excellent bead edge decoration to the hinged cover,pedestal foot and along the sides, underside and top edge of the cast spout. Ithas an urn-shaped finial and retains its original fruit wood handle.

The coffee pot was madeby Langlands and Robertson who were the most important Newcastle silversmithsof the latter part of the 18th century. The date letteris for 1784 andthe pot must have been made prior to December of that year when the additionalduty mark was introduced (i.e. made between July and December 1784).

This fabulous coffee pot is infine overall condition with a good solid weight.
