A Pair of Vintage Sheet Brass Scandinavian Swedish Candlesticks - Christmas Décor with Candles!
You are offerding on a pair of traditional Scandinavian (most likely Swedish) brass candlesticks. The candles show typical Scandinavian sheet brass construction with the embossed or repousse decoration found in antique and reproduction Swedish brasses. The stems are in the \"barley twist\" motif.
They are definitely vintage and perhaps older as can be seen from signs of use and construction. The embossed motif appears to be fruit and fir boughs.I\'m calling these \"Christmas\" candles because they are a lighter weight than the average French or British stick, although they were most likely made for daily use. They are definitely more substantial than the light sheet Scandinavian brass holders made for the smaller size Christmas candles.
Standard 10\" off-white new Yankee Candles scentless tapers are included -- all you need are some fir boughs (maybe a Dala Horse) for a festive Swedish Christmas display.
The sticks measure approximate 4.75\" in height and 5.25\" at the base. The bobeche is built-in, followed by the barley twist, a drip catcher and then the embossed domed base. There is simple folk incised embossing around all the edges.
I try to be very thorough with my condition reports. The candlesticks show signs of gentle use. The drip guards which may be very slightly bent from use. They\'ve had a fairly recent very good polishing and are still bright. There is wax residue and tarnish within the candle sockets -- indicating some age and use.
