Long before Griswald was casting iron kitchen ware in the 1860\'s, Thomas and CharlesClark began in 1779 at Shakespeare Foundry, England and cast iron pots through the 1960\'s. This example I believe to be about mid-range. It is about 3\" high and 4 1/2\" in diameter. The handle and lid both sheet metal. The lid is of two piece constructionand the intact loop handle is riveted on.The pot handle length is 71/2\". Total weight is just under 2 pounds. A very rare example to of survived undamaged with its lid.

This iron pot has a wonderful brown patina. The bottom is bright and cleaned prior to my ownership. The pot overall issolid, no cracks, no chipsor other damage. The interior has a lightresidue of alight brownsubstance that I did not try to clean.
