Youare offerding on a WONDERFUL VERY RARE TIFFANYREED & Co19cfigured burr walnut antique restored and repolished jewellery box. Datesapproximately 1840/1860.

InWONDERFUL restored condition.

The box has been rewaxed.

The box sadly does not lock.

Terrific burr walnut to each side back and top.

The box has the retailers brass engraved plague for \'TiffanyReed and Co, Union Square New York\'

In 1850 Gideon E.T. Reed became the fourthpartner in what was known at the time as Tiffany, Young and Ellis and becamethe resident head of a new branch in Paris called Tiffany, Reed & Co. Itwas both a retail establishment and a buying office. Charles Lewis Tiffanybought out the other partners in 1853, following which the New York firm was known as Tiffany & Co.

The tiffany mark is always the mark for excellence and would have been a highly prized box in its time.

There are a few very veryminor nibbles on the veneer, one slightly larger on the front right side top. They are just nibbles and nothing major what so ever. It really is a terrific and very rare box in great condition.

Terrific chassed engraved bras to the top and front. With agate cabochons on the top and front.

The box has multiple uses, and would make a fabulous jewellery box.

Boxretains the original lock, top catch andoriginalhinges.Supplied with asilk tassel and Victorian key that sadly does not lock the box and is supplied and described as being decorative only.
