From a Tucson Country Club estate some years ago is this exceedingly well crafted 19th Century Tsarist Russian enameled silver tea spoon from the Moscow workshop of Antip Kuzmichev. The hard to find table necessity exhibits substantial hand involved construction and commensurate craftsmanship, reflecting a time when the Kuzmichev atelier was quite capable of top tier quality for prevailing demands - the configuration here is both functional and beautiful. The stem is marked with the Kuzmichev \"AK\" mark and combined \"88\" / St George mark for silver fineness and circa 1882-1899 Moscow. Weight is very good for the form at about 28.9 grams on my portable digital scale. Condition is quite good though not absolutely perfect, with an aura of time to the silver surfaces. The enamel shows some typical and expected wear from period service. This had been stored away in a box for a long, long time when I found it, and I have decided to leave the decision to refresh the polish (or not) to its next keeper. Whatever that decision, this artwork can still serve today. A look at the pics should give a good idea of appearance and condition. Size is about 5 3/8 in. long.
