Vintage Tahitian Umete or Food BowlCarved from a single piece of wood,Feet part of piece are NOT inserted.
Collected by a neighbor in the 1960\'s.
Thick and heavy. Weighs over 3.5 pounds.Length is 20\"Width 6 3/4\"Height 2 1/2\"
Condition is very good.There are some slight splits at one end.A bit of insect damage (not active) in top center side areawhich I consider minor.There are some spots, slight irregularities in finish.
Carved from a single piece of wood.I have NO idea what kind but it is beautifully grained.I believe it is hand hewn. Please look carefully atphotos of the bottom.
Small, old, discolored paper label on bottom with the number 10.Don\'t know what this refers to.
Probably was a tourist piece but it is quite a wonderful object.
