This was painted 72 years ago, and used to create the Sunday TARZAN for November 24, 1940 (11/24/1940 - one year prior to America\'s entry into WW II).A great item, the colors are vivid, bright and beautiful, displaying all the effort and care Hogarth put into them. Absolutely gorgeous images! Other Hogarth color guides have been purchased by the Louvre and the Smithsonian collections. See Heritage sale site to see others sold. How much would you pay to have just one small painted jewel by Hogarth. Here are a dozen small vignettes at a bargain price. This original painted print is a fantastic way to have original Hogarth art at a fraction of the normal cost of his B&W ink art.
NOTE: This is Hogarth\'s original hand-painted water colors on a paper print. This isnot the original black line art.BURNE HOGARTH: One of the founders of New York\'s School of Visual Arts (SVA). His books include TARZAN, Dynamic Anantomy, Figure Drawing, Light and Shade, etc. His work has been exhibited at the Louvre, Paris: Musee des Arts Decoratifs. He is a past president of the National cartoonists Society (NCS) and has won the NCS Reuben Award for the Best in Advertising & Illustration in 1974, 1975 & 1976.

CONDITION: Very Good. Colors are bright and clear. Some wear to the page itself, and it once was folded between tiers (see scans). The art lays flat and will ship flat. There are approximately 21 small spots of spilled white paint in the bottom right three panels. The conditions have been taken into account when pricing this item.
