French 950 sterling silver tastevin orwine tasting cup by the prestigiousDijon Firm of Orfevre Parrot, c.1880.The firm was active from 1816 throughWWII. This delightful Burgundiantastevin has alternating large andsmall pearl decorations on its body andthe handle is supported by a ring. Thebody, handle and ring support are allfully and legibly marked with theMinerva 1st standard and maker\'s markof M P separated by an arrow. All sixof the marks have their Bigorne or BeakIron counter marks. This superblydesigned executed and marked tastevinis 2 1/4\" in diameter, 3\" across thehandle and 3/4\" deep, weighing 26grams. The soft, warm, originalfinish is present, with no buffing ormachine polishing. The excellentoriginal condition and clear detail,with no monograms, removals, repairsor alterations, make this an especiallyattractive offering. [r5548]
