Circa: 1900-15 - this is early model of Taxiphote.
Made in FranceSet Includes Taxiphote and 9 trays with 175+ glass stereo slides. Some of the slides ( around 35 views) was cut in half and after taped. I do not know know why.
There is a small thin crack on the back side of the Taxiphote. ( see the photo).
I WILL SHIP THIS STEREOSCOPE TO WORLDWIDE ! This set is very heavy and fragile.

Brief history of the Richard Company.

This company was founded in 1845 in Lyon, France by Felix Richard.

In 1882 Jules Richard(the son of Felix Richard) formed a partnership with his younger brother Max,as “Richard Frères”, and althoughthis was dissolved in 1891.The Richard company was particularly associated witha range of scientific instruments: barometers, thermometers, chronographs andso on .

The company never produced miscellaneous photographic apparatus butconcentrated exclusively on stereoscopicequipment.

The Verascope (Stereoscope) was the basis ofthis entire side of the business. It waspatented in 1893, becoming the best-selling stereoscopic camera of theperiod. Central to the latter was the Taxiphote viewer, patented in 1899.

Richard’s Company was one ofthe great scientific instrument makers and designers of that age.
