This sale is for the one-of-a-kind, hand-drawn, original comic artwork by Thomas A. Dorgan, popularly known as TAD, for his Judge Rummy\'s Court daily comic strip of January 26, 1926. This beautiful daily has a funny gag, and features main character Judge Rummey and Sam in all panels. The entire art board measures 13 5/8\" w x 9 1/2\" h and the image area inside the borders is 12 5/8\" x 8\". The medium is pen and india ink on triple-ply art board. For being 89 years old, the artwork is in beautiful excellent overall condition. The syndicate strip is still firmly attached. The art board is cream-colored, triple-ply and still as firm as the day it was drawn on. The ink is still a rich black. There are a couple thumb tack holes in the margins, where the artist attached the art board to his drawing board. There are some faded blue pencil editor\'s notes in the upper margin, as well as a couple small ink marks in the side margins. the corners are fairly sharp. The art board was cut slightly uneven by the artist. There is a minor razor correction to the E in BOFE in the third panel. There are no paste-overs or white outs. Judge the great condition yourself--the pictures are high resolution black & white scans of the actual artwork. Tad Dorgan\'s work is considered iconic for the era of the Roaring 20s and very popular with comic art collectors. He created several other strips in addition to Judge Rummy\'s Court and was asports writer and cartoonist of such note that he is in the Boxing Hall of Fame. He coined many terms and phrases which became commonplace in his day and are still used today, like dumbbell, for crying out loud, the cat\'s meow and yes, we have no bananas. I am a serious comic art collector who is \"thinning the herd,\" as my collection has grown too large. This piece has been in my collection for at least ten years. offer with confidence, based on my perfect response record.
