By the time Beatlemania started in October 1963, there were four main pop-specialist postcard and photographicpin-up companies in the UK - Starpic, Top Star, Valex and Brel - and all but one of them originated inBlackpool.
Brel, a small one-man operation, was the exception, being based in London.
This version of cardrefCS159is in the smaller of Brel\'s two sizes,measuring 5.5 x 3.25 inches (14 x 8 cm).(The reference numbers for the smaller, postcard, size start with a 1 and the numbers for the larger sizestart with a 2, but they otherwise they are the same for each design.)
It\'s in excellent,unmarked condition, with clean straight edges. The back is marked out as a postcard, bearingthe usual legend\'real photograph\'.
The photo was taken onstage at the London Palladium on 13 October 1963.
