The fifth edition. 8vo, original green cloth stamped in gilt with all pages ends gilt. First thus edition of this nice Victorian book with instructions on the proper culture and care of common shrubs and plants. There is a nice hand colored frontispiece and several in text B&W illustrations. Laid in is a two page letter discussing the book and he original bill of sale from a book store in San Francisco. Pencil inscription to verso of dedication page and top of page 1, else a nice clean copy. Very scarce in such nice condition. A beautiful example of a Victorian gift book.
