Revised Edition. A very good largefamily bible in a very good full leather binding, with brass corners and brassclasps (in working order). 13.00\" x 10.50\" x 3.75\" . (weight 11 lb[or 5kg] ). Illustrated with 15 black& white engravings (By \"G. Dore\"),10 chromo-lithographs (by \"Cassell& Company Lithographers\"), and 1 coloured map. Polished black calf over bevelled boards.Front board with raised central lozenge, with bright gilt title: \"The Holy Bible Illustrations References AndMaps\". Outer brass corners with embossed decoration. Both clasps alsowith embossed decoration (just a little soiled and pitted). Spine with 4 raisedbands and bright gilt title: \"TheNational Family Bible\". Hinges carefully strengthened. All page edgesgilt. Pale yellow endpapers. Coloured lithographic frontis, facing colouredtitle page, followed by main printed title page. Preface ends: \"John Eadie, 13 Lansdowne Crescent, 30thSeptemeber 1858.\" Family Register (inserted before Genesis), with twopages filled in with details of the ‘WreyfordFamily of Torquay (1884-1924)’ . Clean English text throughout, wellillustrated with both coloured and black & white engravings (all with theiroriginal tissue guards). A very good Victorian Bible, designed to impress!
