The Realist #93 1972 / S. Clay Wilson Featured in Article About Comic Violence

Launchedas a newsprint tabloid in 1958 on a shoe-string budget by 26-year-oldPaul Krassner, The Realist grew from 600 subscribers to a nationallydistributed newsprint magazine within a year. It combined socialcommentary with wicked satire unlike anything seen before and wascertainly a key milestone and inspiration to the American undergroundpress in the \'60s.The Realist published articles about a widespectrum of controversial or liberalist topics long before they werecovered by the mainstream media, including feminism, abortion andpsychedelic drugs. It was best known for its notorious pranks andhoaxes on various targets, from advertising and television topoliticians and governments. Though satire was its bread and butter,The Realist also provided a platform for many serious articles andeditorials. Countercultural icons frequently appeared in themagazine, including authors Norman Mailer, Joseph Heller, and KenKesey, as well as comedians Dick Gregory, Mort Sahl and LennyBruce.

This tabloid is from the collection of the late Howard Greber, a legendary collector and dealer. The pictures show the actual copy for sale. This copy has been conservatively graded. All comics are individually bagged and boarded. This book will ship in a new cardboard envelope.
I am not a professional grader but attempt to grade books based on standard Overstreet guidelines. My grading is fairly conservative, particularly at the high end of the spectrum, but your grading may be more conservative. I can only say that I try to be consistent and you will likely find that my grades are within one full grade of your own.
SHIPPING: Idon\'t ship comics by Media Mail anymore. It\'s just too risky, as USPS has become more vigilant about checking and restricting Media Mail. The last thing you want is to receive a notice that your shipment is availableat the Post Office but there is postage due for retail ground shipping costs because the package did not qualify for Media Mail. I would refundyour costs, but of course, but it ends up being a big hassle for both you and me. FIRST CLASS MAIL: I can ship 4 standard comic books by first-class package in a new cardboard envelope. This is a great, economic, quick and safe way to ship comics. I also use boxes instead of envelopes for more expensive single books and magazines. Above 4 comic books or 2 magazines (sometimes even 1 magazine), things are too heavy for first-class mail.RETAIL GROUND, FEDEX and PRIORITY MAIL:For 5 or more comic books or 3 or more magazines, I usually offer options for USPS Parcel Select Ground, FedEx SmartPost, FedEx Ground, or Priority Mail. I often use calculated shipping because it\'s the most equitable way to determine costs, but sometimes I\'ll just go with a flat fee that\'s usually under my own costs. I set a maximum of $11.99 on shipping (less than my discounted cost) Largersets of comic books will be shipped in sturdy boxes with padding and I will offer plenty of options.
COMBINED SHIPPING: Under most circumstances, I will combine shipping for multiple wins. Combined shipping discounts are automatically applied for listings thatare eligible for my promotional shipping rule. I will also combine shipping with large sets even though will not automatically calculate the combined shipping cost. Just contact me or wait until I get a chance to send you a new invoice with combined shipping discounts.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: As a standard practice, Iship to the United States only. International locations may contact me prior toclose of offerding to arrange a special exception and shipping cost. If you do not contact me before close of offerding, no exception will be made. International shipping is a pain (including \'s Global Shipping program) and I try to avoid it at all costs.
