The nice display case can be used or the interior base of case can be removed to take up less space for display if owner chooses. The silver work on the St Vladimir cathedral is stunning!!!
This was obtained from a private collector who owned over 20 different Theo Faberge St Petersburg Collection Eggs along with other expensive fine art from around the world. We obtained 10 of the eggs to be listed soon (6 of 9 we listed have already sold). The owner paid at or above $6,000 for the egg in 1989, plus tax, so over $6,400 total. In fact, almost all of the St Petersburg Collection retailed above $5000 when issued & many well above. That would be $8,500-$14,000 in today's dollars. $6,500 translates to about $12,900 today.
We are selling under half of what Egg's original cost was in 1988.
This St. Vladimir Egg was displayed in a smoke free home inside a glass enclosed display cabinet. Please look over all pictures & offer/buy based on your observations. The item could use a gentle cleaning, but we will leave that to buyer. We see no notable defects other than needing a light cleaning, but buyer should buy based on pictures as we photographed from all sides. It has display case & a signed COA. It is also etch numbered & etch signed on the base.

In celebration of the millennium anniversary of Russian Orthodox Christianity, Theo Fabergé was commissioned to create The St. Vladimir Egg.
Evoking the splendour of Russia, the hand cut crystal Egg is decorated in rich burgundy enamel complemented by intricate silver designs. Crowned with a vermeil dome from which the sterling silver Russian Orthodox cross rises, the Egg opens to reveal a sterling silver scaled re-creation of St. Vladimir's Cathedral, which stands on the site where the first baptism took place in the year 988 BC, in Kiev.

The sterling silver disc is inscribed in Church Slavonic: "988...Tysyacheletie Kreshcheniya Rus' 1988", which translated means, "988 One Thousand Years of Rus' 1988".
