Offered for sale is a wonderfulNorwegian sterling silver Viking long boat with dragons at each end, shields onthe sides, green guilloche enameling and clear glass insert, plus a matchingspoon. This salt has lost little, if any, gilding. The base bears thecrown mark for Theodor Olsen Eft, twenty-two stars and 925 S SterlingNorway. Red and blue versions can be seenin plate 316 of \"The Open Salt Compendium\" by Jzyk &Robertson. This piece measures3-1/4\" wide from dragon to dragon with a 2-1/4\" by 1-1/4\"bowl. It stands just under 1-3/4\"high at the dragons heads. The clearglass insert fits snugly into place.The gilded spoon is 2-1/4\" long, features a green guilloche dragonface on the handle and bears the same marks as the salt. There is some wear to the gilt on the interior of the salt, and some light spots on the bowl of the spoon that could be polished out, but I didn\'t want to damage the gold and they\'re not overtly noticeable.
