$300.00

We are offering a signed thank you letter from Theodore Roosevelt dated November 26, 1918, to Lawrence J. Walsh, advertising manager of AO Company, for a poem that Mr. Walsh had written and sent to Teddy Roosevelt. Walsh wrote the poem, \"The Star of Gold\", at the time of the death of Roosevelt\'s son, Quentin, an American aviator who was killed in action in France during World War I. His poem was an expression of sympathy to the Roosevelts. The letter from Teddy thanks Walsh for his kindness and courtesy.
The letter comes with the original Wellsworth Life newspaper article dated December 31, 1919. The article is about the christening of Teddy\'s grandson, Quentin, who was named after his uncle, Quentin, who died in the war. According to the article, the guests at the christening were presented with a book containing the poem, \"The Star of Gold\".
The article states, \"....we are printing the verse by Mr. Walsh and by his courtesy the letter from the late Theodore Roosevelt; also a clipping from the New York Times.....\" (which gave details of the christening, held in Oyster Bay, L. I., New York).
This newspaper article, with its picture of the letter from Roosevelt, is provenance to support its authenticity.
