I just purchased this SET of (4) Art Nouveau crystal wine hocks from a local estate here in Central Virginia. The hocks are characteristic of the fine hand blown crystal produced by Theresienthal, founded in Bavaria, Germany in 1836 (similar designs were produced by Meyr\'s Neffe, in Winterberg). Theresienthal was the preferred glassworks of Bavarian royalty and produced commissions for King Ludwig II and other royal courts. These hocks are beautifully executed in clear crystal with graceful curvilinear lines to the ovoid bowls, tapering stem and domed disc base. The hand painted bowls feature an arcing grape vine with fine detail to the hanging fruit clusters, outstretched leaves and vine tendrils. The stems have a striking presence measuring 8\" high, 3 ¼\" wide at the bowl, 2 ¾\" at the mouth opening. The ground / polished top rim and foot ring feature a 24K gold enamel band. All of the goblets are in excellent condition with no damage or loss to the finish or gold banding. This lovely set of hock wines would make a fine addition to any collection of Theresienthal / Meyr\'s Neffe art glass or Art Nouveau inspired decorative arts.
