Tiffany Studios Large Pine Needle Gilt Bronze & Favrile Glass Picture Frame:

This is a large Tiffany Favrile caramel colored glass and bronze pine needle patterned frame marked \"TIFFANY STUDIOS, NEW YORK\" on the back (no number). There is no damage to the glass but there is some significant oxidation to the bronze (which I am told can be remedied fairly easily). Please note this oxidation on the bottom front of the picture frame in one of the photos. Its overall size is 10 1/2\" x 13 1/2\" whereas the picture opening is just under8 3/4\" x just over 11 1/4\". This frame belonged to my Grandmother who was the original owner and purchased it from Tiffany.We have not tried to clean the frame or the glass.

Found this information on the internet: Tiffany Studios was an independent company formed in the 1890\'s. One of Louis Comfort Tiffany\'s companies is best known by the name of Tiffany Studios. Tiffany patented Favrile glass in 1892. Favrile glass often has a distinctivecharacteristic that is common in some glass from Classical antiquity: itpossesses a superficial iridescence. This iridescence causes the surface to shimmer,but also causes a degree of opacity. This iridescent effect of the glass wasobtained by mixing different colors of glass together while hot.
