The Mystery of the Johnny Express?What you are offerding on is a vintage, 1960s Johnny Express Toy Truck - great for parts, restoration or for use as a display piece. Until last week, I wasn\'t familiar with Johnny Express, so here\'s what I\'ve found out about this particular truck and how I came upon it.
Last week, my girls and I stopped at a garage sale with our eyes on another item. As we were leaving, the folks having the sale pointed out this truck and asked if we\'d like to buy it. They also had a few parts in a banker\'s box, and offered them up. With \"this will be good for the sandbox\" in mind, we bought it and were on our way.
After further inspection at home, I realized that this was motorized, older than I thought, broken, and missing pieces. I looked-up \"Johnny Express\" and learned the history of this truck, and that it was made in the 1960s by Topper Toys of Johnny Lightning fame. I also discovered that there\'s an entire movement of collectors for these, as well as people who like repairing these toys and restoring them to their former glory.
While this truck would look beautiful simply sitting on a shelf in my office, it\'s a kid-magnet, and not really safe for kids. It should either be restored, or used as a donor truck for someone who needs parts to restore another one. After taking some \"Toyography\" pics of the Johnny Express in front of our home, I\'ve decided to sell it here with hopes that someone who\'s really into these will take it and enjoy it.
Condition is definitely rough, with numerous missing and/or broken pieces. Wires on the bottom, no remote, no driver, missing gas tanks, smokestacks, etc. Cab looks like it was repaired with plexiglass at some point. One \"foot\" missing from trailer stand. One broken metal strut - easily glued. Comes with four pallets and a crane. Crane is using a piece of wood to spin on - probably didn\'t come that way.
Again, it\'s really rough, but it looks pretty in the pictures.

Also, it\'s heavy and big, so shipping is a tad expensive.
