For sale is an 11 piece salad (or fruit) bowl serving set made by Towle. The main serving bowl is made of sterling silver with melamine enamel on the outside. It measures approximately 11 1/2\" across at its widest point and stands 5\" tall. This is a fascinating piece because the melamine bowls were only produced for a few years, if even that long. The bowl could use a good polish where the sterling is exposed, but I didn\'t polish it myself as I know some people prefer to do it themselves. Let me know if you would like me to polish it, and I can accommodate that request. One thing that is really great about this particular example is that the original descriptive sticker is still on the bottom of the bowl and appears to be in excellent condition (please see attached photos).The included utensils are a salad serving set in Towle\'s Old Master pattern. They feature sterling silver handles (no monograms), with melamine necks and bowls. Both utensils are approximately 12\" in length and about 2 7/16\" across at their widest point. Like the central serving bowl, these melamine utensils were only produced for a very short period of time and can be difficult to find in good condition.Finally, there are 8 matching black bowls included. These are unlabeled, so I cannot tell if they are melamine, or some other plastic materials. These bowls measure approximately 5 7/16\" across at their widest point, and stand 2\" high. They could use a good washing, but appear in excellent condition otherwise.Please look to all of the photos for additional detail.
