Traditional Serbian folk costume piece, girl\'s apron:

This apron is a from the folk costume of a young girl. It originates in the Great Morava Valley (Pomoravlje) in Serbia, and was purchased in Cuprija, Serbia, for a private ethnographic collection. The floral embroidery motifs are typical for the region, and the simplicity of the embroidery is also typical for a young girl\'s or child\'s costume. There is a small pocket on the apron, which dates this item to approxiamtely 1950s or 1960s. It was worn by a village girl on special occasions only, and this is evident in that it shows slight signs of wear/use but is otherwise in good condition. A lovely piece for collectors of Balkan textile or folk arts.
