This is beautiful quality made large bell is in excellent shape. The bell has no damage, dings, dents or out of round shape that can be seen. This entire bell WILL NEVER RUST and will never need painting. This is the natural color and how it will look in 10-20 years from now. Perfect for a large estate homes, beach luxury resorts, large yachts or a golf course near the ocean where salt would constantly corrode steel or iron frames. The clapper and pressed frame pins appear also to be bronze. The bell internal is in excellent shape with hardly any wear. The unsightly cast stampings in the bronze cradle were all ground off when it was made. The quality can be heard through the sound from this bell. The sound is loud and smooth and not clangy as bells having iron clappers usually sound.A strong magnet has no attraction anywhere on the bell or frame- it is a solid cast (not coated or painted). The cradle was best determined to be bronze due to color, hardness and a slight green corrosion dust when it was removed from the leather wrap from which it was stored. Amazingly this bell is 100% solid- as it was when it was made.Try and find a picture of a brass bell even close to this having a solid bronze cradle and you will see what a rare opportunity this is. I have only found this cradle style (frame) on locomotives (having steel or cast iron frames which are rusted and need constant restoration). MARKINGS:
The stamp city location inside is unclear as shown: Looks like_A1AN_ CITY (A1A North City) and the Number \"7\". Possibly Amelia Island? It was referred to the North City of A1A state route. If you have any information as to the city- PLEASE let me know- (even if you buy it) it was my grandfather\'s and he lived all over southern coast (Galveston TX, LA two known) and we know little of his history and our family name. He moved to Erie, PA in early 1930\'s. Since it was made of bronze that suggested that it was originally near the ocean salt.Measures 14\" at its highest point by 13\" at it\'s widest point and weighs approximately 26-30 poundsAll attempts to describe this bell has been made, any questions will be answered. The actual bell is sold as shown. Thank you
