The original 18/19th century hammered damascusblade was hand-forged by metal-smith experts. It is nicely curved with adistinct 10 inches yelman (back edge). There are blacksmith\'s marks on theright forte, as seen on the pictures below. The blade is 26 inches (66 cm) longand 1 and 3/4 inches (45 mm) broad. Some minimal wear in the form of blackpatina spots is present close to the edge of the blade.Overall, the blade is in goodcondition (A-).
The cross guard, handle and decorative scabbardhave been meticulously and skillfully restored to highlight the beauty of thisold blade. The pommel, cross guard, tang band and mounts are made out ofintricately decorated silver. All metal parts are engraved with rich floralmotifs and the handle has in addition niello decorations both on the crossguard and on the pommel. The grip is covered with shark skin for a better grip.The wooden scabbard is covered with black leather and the mounts are kept inplace using string under the leather to prevent sliding along the scabbard. Theleather scabbard is very decorative due to its intricate grooves. All therestored pieces further enhance the blade and the whole piece comes to life, asonly best materials and age-appropriate workmanship techniques were used.
