Thisis a basic synopsis of the Overstreet Grading Scale:
MINT (M) 9.9-10
Perfect, pristine, devoid of anytrace of wear or printing or handling flaws. Covers must be fully lustrous withsharply pointed corners. No color fading or inking flaws. Cover and pages mustbe centered and even cut.
NEAR MINT (NM) 9.2-9.7
Almost perfect with virtually nowear. No significant printing flaws. Covers must be essentially lustrous withsharp corners. Spine is tight as new. In older comics, minimal color fading isacceptable, as is slight aging of the paper.
VERY FINE (VF) 7.5-8.5
There are small signs of wear but itis very well preserved. Most luster is readily visible. Corners may no longerbe sharp but are not rounded. Typical of a comic read only a few times and thenproperly stored.
FINE (F) 5.5-6.5
Clean, presentable, with noticeablesigns of wear. Some white may show through around the staples and moderaterounding of the corners. No tape or writing damage. Book still lies flat.
VERY GOOD (VG) 3.5-4.5
A well-read copy with some minordamage, such as creasing or small tears. Some discoloration may be evident andmay have obvious wear around the staples. Some luster remains and rolling ofthe spine may be seen when the comic is laid flat on a table.
GOOD (G) 1.8-2.5
A fully intact comic with very heavywear. Some tears, cover creases, flaking, and a rolled spine may be evident. Notape repairs are present.
FAIR (FR) 1
A comic that has definitely seenbetter days. Comic may be soiled and damaged on the cover and interior. Theentire comic is completely intact.
POOR (PR) 0.5
Interior or exterior pages may havecut-outs or writing. The cover may be detached or missing. Missing or taperepaired pages may be present.
