Two antique English sterling silver matchsafes or vesta cases hallmarked Birmingham 1886 and 1897 with maker\'s mark \"L & S\" for Levi & Salaman. Both have gilt interior, close securely and have no engraved initials or monograms. The 1886 hallmarked matchsafe measures approximately 1 15/16\" x 1 7/16\" x 7/16\" in size and weighs 22.6 grams. The 1897 hallmarked matchsafe measures approximately 2 1/8\" x 1 3/8\" x 3/8\" in size and weighs 21.4 grams. Each has typical signs of use or wear, i.e., tiny dents or dings otherwise in good presentable condition.
