Maori, New Zealand -dating from the first half of the 20th century.
Hand carved and finished from two sections of native hard-wood timber.
The figures are both carved in the traditional manner - the faces inset with paua-shell eyes.
Both examples show signs of some genuine age and are not lacquer or varnish coated.Height, larger example - 7 1/8\" (181mm), smaller example - 4 1/4\" (115mm).

Condition - Very Good. No cracks or repairs. Fine natural colour and patina.
