U.S.S. DOLPHIN PLAQUE FROM SUBMARINE NEW PRICE

This is a nice original large size submariners dolphin badge that was taken from the U.S.S. Dolphin,,,Not a simple piece of souvenir junk, but a very well made, quality item, solid brass insignia, with nice detailing. Not sure what it is mounted on, but looks like thick, black bakelite. Quite thick and can easly support the brass insignia. Measures about 12 inches, x 24 inches. Nice condition, no chips, cracks, etc. There is a note from the person who I received this from telling the history. There were two U.S.S. Dolphins this could have come from. Both had good histories, One was a Pearl Harbor during the attack and possibly shot down at least one or more Japanese aircraft. The other was one of the last diesel boats built, and was specially made to test submarine equipment, and had a lot of firsts, including the deepest dive made by a submarine. Definatly a nice, impressive submarine item. Very heavy and weighs 14 pounds and has two mounting bolts to the back. No markings that i can see.
