ULTRA RARE MONTBLANC MEISTERSTUCK 84 14K Fountain Pen & Pix 85 14K Pencil Set:
$431.24

We go to estate sales virtually every weekend and come across a wide array of unique items. We are constantly adding to our growing online inventory. We pick up new items from all over the world and all over the United States. We add 25-50 new items every week and we will be continually expanding upon that number of new items weekly. If you\'d like to, feel free to add us to your saved seller\'s list and check back often. We would be honored to add you to our repeat customer list. We also put items on sale regularly, so keep an eye out for new sale items.

There is always a Sale by Th.

We ask what we consider to be a fair price for anything we sell. We understand that our idea of a fair price may be someone else\'s \'that\'s too much\' cost. If that\'s the case, feel free to make us an offer and will consider it. However, please avoid making lowball offers. If you make us a lowball offer, we will thank you kindly for your interest and respectfully decline your offer.

We picked this up at an estate sale along with a ton of vintage and antique items from Korea, China and Japan. The lady worked for the Red Cross and lived in Korea, and other Asian nations, throughout the Korean War until after the Vietnam War. Over her nearly three decades living throughout Asia, she amassed a considerable amount of high quality, rare and hard to find items. Most of the items have been in their original boxes since she purchased them 45 to 70 years ago, if they came in boxes. We will be listing them over the coming days and weeks.

Now onto the item for sale.

For sale is an incredibly hard to find fountain pen and mechanical pencil set. Finding one of these on here happens a handful of times a year at most. Finding the set on here is all but a once in a lifetime opportunity. The fountain pen in this set was considered the finest fountain pen ever produced and many still believe that to be the case half a decade later.

Montblanc needs no introduction and have been making some of the world\'s finest pens and pencils for decades. This set is among the best and most sought after Montblanc pens and pencils. They come up for sale on here by themselves once in a blue moon at best. I\'ve never seen a set come up for sale.

This set was made in the 1960s and includes a Montblanc Meisterstuck No. 84 fountain pen and a Montblanc Meisterstuck Pix No. 85 mechanical pencil.

Both of these pieces are clad entirely in 1/15 14K gold filled. The nib of the fountain pen and the point of the pencil are 18K gold.

These two pieces were Montblanc\'s second best and most expensive in the Meisterstuck line of the 1960s, beaten out only by the solid 18K gold No. 94 and No. 95 from this line of Meisterstuck pens and pencils.

Both of these pieces are in excellent working condition. We dismantled the pen and cleaned all the pieces with warm water. As you can see in one of the pictures, the 18K gold nib has some script on it that you cannot see unless it is removed from the grip. We only dismantled the pen as far as you can see in the pictures. The grip, nib, feeder and feeder case came apart really easily and we cleaned it very well.

The only thing we didn\'t take apart was the pen case with the ink reservoir system, but we did soak it in hot water and clean all the ink out of it.

As you can see, we refilled the fountain pen with blue ink and it works flawlessly, so the ink reservoir obviously works well.

As you can also see, the mechanical pencil works great as well.

Both pieces are striated the length of their bodies with a small area with no striations that can be personalized. The good part about this set is that they were never personalized.

As far as the cosmetic condition of this set is concerned, it isn\'t terrible, but it isn\'t factory fresh either. Both pieces were clearly used and considering this woman\'s career and where she lived, it makes one wonder where they\'ve been and what they\'ve seen so to speak. Anyhow, they both have very small scratches they\'ve picked up over the decades littering their bodies, but they could all be polished out.

Outside of the scratches on the pencil, there are no dents, broken, or missing parts. It looks very clean inside and very nice outside beyond the scratches and it works great.

The pen works great, but was certainly used more and has a couple more issues beyond the scratches described above. The worst part about the pen is that the snow cap, also called a tassie, has gone missing over the years. The snow cap is the very top of the pen cap and holds the clip in place. As you can see in the picture, the white threaded plastic part is still there, but the black top with the white six point star shape in the middle has broken off. The white threaded part screws into the the clutch (I think that\'s what it\'s called) from outside the pen cap and holds it in place inside the cap. With the snow cap missing, it no longer holds the clip and clutch in place. These can actually be purchased on here and other sites and are very simple to replace. The other issue which can also be fixed is a handful of very small (smaller than a pinhead) dents in the body of the pen. There are two on the barrel and three on the cap. All of them are close to each other and very small and hard to see. Two of them are right where the clip is when the snow cap is installed, so they\'re somewhat concealed and even harder to see. They could certainly be repaired, but that would require someone qualified to do so.

All in all, this is a great set of one of the most highly sought after fountain pens and mechanical pencil sets. If they were sent to Montblanc to be refurbished, they would be absolutely outstanding and perfect. Montblanc does service and repair all of their pens and pencils and they can be contacted about their services through their website. We included a picture of an advertisement for the Meisterstuck line of Montblanc pens which is really pretty cool and informative. As you can see from the advertisement, the pen has a lifetime warranty and originally cost $158. The mechanical pencil originally cost $28 and also has a lifetime warranty. We aren\'t sure if the warranties would apply to these pieces, but I\'d check if I was sending them in for repair.

We have described everything we can think of about this set. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and we will get back to you.
