Very unique and striking! This Vintage (Mid Century) French Campaign style table or nightstandfeatures an abundance of detail. A wooden box/trunk style top is mounted on a metal \"x\" base.The top is adorned with ornate brass hardware on each corner, both top and bottom, with abrass quatrefoil mounted on the center of the top. The table has a large, single drawer with a double panel design and two, Chinoiserie styled, brass drawer pulls. The drawer is dovetailed. The table hasunique side handles that run the length of table. These are wooden cylinders which areconnected to the base and mounted with large, metal rods that fit in the center of the cylinders. Large, flat screwssecure the cylinders. The box/trunk topas well as the side handles are finished in gold leafwith red paint over the gold. The red paint has been applied so that a fair amount of the gold leaf is visible under the red. The red paint also has a darker glaze over it so that the table has a very beautiful and layered colorfinish.

The x base is metal (it is not brass but it does not accept a magnet). The metal pieceshave a flat profile and are cut into a \"sword blade\" pattern. They have a wooden cylinder stretcher whichattaches the front legs to the back legs and this stretcher matches the side handles of the top. The metal of the base has been finished in a aged/crazed technique. The base has large, metal, ball feet which havegold leaf finish.

The table is not marked. It is in very nice, vintage condition. The unique design does allow for some \"swaying\" movement but it is very sturdy and it is heavy for its size. The finish on the legs does have some slight chipping and peeling in some areas, particularly on the back profile, but nothing too severe or distracting. This is a gorgeous andinteresting table.

The table measures 22\" tall, 28\" wide and it is 17.5\" front to back at thefeet. The drawer has an interior measurement of 21.25\" wide, 13.5\" deep and 4\" tall.
