This is an unusual early 19th century Victorian beadwork & woolwork panel worked on linen canvas with a large, raised plushwork or stumpwork square in the centre in different shades of madder red. This is framed by a border od beautiful oak leaves and acorns. My feeling is that it was possibly intended as a large table mat for a hot kettle, teapot or pot, which would sit on the plushwork square, but I am not sure.
The style is quite simple and rustic and very beautiful, it could be framed or incorporated into a pretty project like a cushion/pillow front.
It measures about 13" by 12.5" or 33 cms by 32 cms with the canvas extending a bit further.
The condition is mostly good with some minor wear, see photos. An unusual piece for framing, display, reference or a collection. Thank you for looking.
