Such was the need for fighting knives during WW2 that the US government purchased almost the entire production of most American cutlery companies. E.G. Waterman of Bleecker St, New York produced a sturdy 7.5\" blade fighting knife that was widely carried by US troops overseas. This US Army USMC Marine WW2 E.G. WATERMAN EGW FIGHTING KNIFE is in good condition, with some rounding and nicking to the blade tip, some light sharpening to the blade edge, some scattered patina at each side of the blade, some scattered scratching and a few spots of whitish paint staining to the handle, a chip in the lower spine of the handle, some loosening to the pommel, and with some scattered age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the knife is in fine shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it features a 7 5/16\" blade that retains approximately 90% of the scarce, original parkerized finish, bears the classic \"bottle opener\" notch near the ricasso, and is unmarked as to its maker. It sports a stacked leather washer handle, boasts an elliptical metal guard and pommel, the latter showing the patented EGW exposed tang and metal securing ring, and is a fine example of a rare, originalUS Army USMC Marine WW2 E.G.
