The M-1 steel helmet was a revolutionary design, with a removable liner housing the suspension and sizing system. It quickly became THE iconic image of the unshaven, dogfaced GI of WW2. This US Army USMC Marine WW2 Korea FRONT SEAM M-1 STEEL COMBAT HELMET is in very good condition, with a bit of spot denting at the middle top crown, some light scattered scratching, soiling, and patina around the exterior and the inside, some light scattered spot denting along the underside of the edge rim, and with some light overall age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the helmet is in fine shape, with no other damage to the tough steel construction, which retains approximately 85% of the Korea era finely corked OD exterior finish. Most interestingly, it boasts a front seam and swivel bales, sports Korea era clip-on OD web chinstraps with a fully functional \"hook and ball\" darkened metal closure buckle, and is stamped with the heat lot number \"915C\" at the underside of the front lip, denoting manufacture in ca. April 1944. It carries the name \"RobERT PICKENPAUGH\" hand painted in white at the interior left crown, and is a fine example of a rare, originalUS Army USMC Marine WW2 Korea FRONT SEAM M-1 STEEL COMBAT HELMET.
